Truth vs Honesty

One day, a person in ours class suddenly ask the tutor what is the different between truth and honesty? I guess most of us in our class was curious about the answer to. It's not like we don't know but in the advertising world, it seems slightly confusing. Well, may be i'm one of those people who doesn't know much about advertising until this October. It takes a few days to realize that there is a different between truth and honesty. Firstly, you must distinguish between the objective and subjective in the use of these terms. Truth is only useful as a concept when two or more people agree. For something to be True , it must have a consensus of agreement, which makes truth a sort of universal concept. On the other hand,  Honesty is much more subjective and depends upon the integrity and  intention of the speaker. Therefore, truth is an absolute concept , while honesty is a quality. A person is honest if he or she if forthright and tells what he or she believes is true. However, a person can be mistaken in his or her perception so that all that he or she is not true. But truth is universal, it has been tested by others, or by time. So in advertising , if something is made believable , then it will become the truth. For instance, " 89% of women use Dove and their is always soft and beautiful", with a video of a women who has a beautiful skin. Now even if some women said oh that's so unrealistic, but they still buy it because it looks believable. Perhaps advertising and branding need a Mouth of Truth, or Bocca della Verita, which Italian Legend says will bite off the hand of a liar.

Here is another interesting video about telling the truth and be honest about a product.
